The Great Barrier Reef

You really have to do this at least once! Snorkling in the Great Barrier Reef. The Coral Sea hosts some of the most beautiful underwater scenery and fauna in the world! Has to be seen to be believed. A short 20-30 mile off-shore trip on the Poseidon from Port Douglas will land you in the calm waters of the Pacific off the great Barrier Reef. These pictures do not do justice to the spectacle underwater that has to be seen to be believed! And the staff are very friendly, with a full eye on safety first! This was both a first swimming lesson and a snorkling lesson in one - nothing like being just thrown in the middle of the Pacific in the relatively cold 25 degree Celcius waters - good that I had a wet suit - helped me keep warm, float and see the sights!

The View out of our hotel room.

And the next day we went on the City Cat, a catamaran ferry that runs the length of the Brisbane River as a water taxi.

More sights of the city of Brisbane!

The next day we went shopping!

I got to play with the Kangaroos. They are incredibly friendly and docile creatures!

OK, today we went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where we saw and held Koalas, fed Kangaroos and had a jolly good time!
